The association of employers of CPEs in Montreal and Laval announced late Thursday night that they had reached an agreement in principle with the CPE workers ’union.
This agreement will prevent an early childhood educators strike scheduled for next week.
A conciliation meeting was held on Thursday afternoon between the union and the employers’ association.
Despite the agreement, the employers’ association said extremely disappointed with the total lack of openness of the union to fix anything related to management issues, particularly regarding the quality and stability of servicesin a press release released Thursday night.
The Montreal and Laval CPE Workers ’Union gave itself a 10-day strike mandate to be carried out in a timely manner. He announced that he would hold four of these strike days starting next Tuesday.
There are 60 unions that manage 83 facilities, in Montreal and Laval, that could be affected by a four -day strike starting next Tuesday.
Collective agreements involving all unions representing workers in CPEs in Quebec, however, were renewed last December.
However, the Montreal and Laval region employers ’association did not sit at the national settlement table at the time. He wanted to negotiate on his own terms.
Three clauses still caused the problem, regarding guarantees about the length of the work week, the role of the work team and the selection and tenure committee.
The employers ’association is keen on this, in the name of efficiency in running a CPE and for accountability reasons. The union is also keen on it, saying its surrender is a large shrinkage.
