Domestic violence: an Ottawa police officer is suspended and charged

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) announced Friday the suspension of an officer from its police force after he was charged with sexual assault, assault, criminal harassment and voyeurism.

ang OPS these offenses are said to have been discovered earlier this year. The police force has also launched an investigation to clarify the alleged incidents produced between 2014 and 2022.

The identity of the police officer, who was released on a promise to show up, was not released to protect the victim’s identity.

These violations are outside the mandate of the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Ottawa police said. L ‘SIU is mandated to investigate incidents in Ontario involving police officers resulting in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
