After a busy Friday night, the convoy of motorcyclists in downtown Ottawa continues Saturday.

Before 9 am, about fifty people gathered at the National War Memorial. This quickly made a group impact because twenty minutes later, we could estimate more than 200 demonstrators had gathered in the area.

Brief counter-demonstration

A group of about 20 protesters quickly arrived at the scene to let the protesters know they were not welcome in downtown Ottawa.

The two parties did not take long to meet, even until they exchanged words. Police chose to position themselves between the two groups to calm the situation.

Minutes later, counter-protesters chose to leave the scene after delivering their message.

The cameras capture the separation between the demonstration and the counter-demonstration.

A busy Friday night

Friday, the first day of the convoy, police arrested seven people.

On Twitter, the City of Ottawa’s By-Law Department said it had already passed 417 parking tickets and pulled 30 vehicles from no stopping zones since Friday morning.

Police formed a line in front of the protesters.

Peace officers also handed out three tickets for noise and smoking violations. Police continue to issue tickets.

Many rallies and motorcyclist movements are planned for this day in Ottawa, as well as a march and a show.

All actions are monitored by a large group of peace officers. The Ottawa Police Service (OPS), supported by police forces across the country, makes its presence felt.
