Since the fatal accident that occurred Sunday afternoon on the Chemin Sainte-Marguerite in the Pointe-du-Lac sector in Trois-Rivières, voices have been raised on social media to denounce the dangerous maneuvers taking place there.
Some residents of the sector are urging the overtake, disrespecting the speed limits currently on this road, but also the curve where the accident occurred yesterday.
Many feel that this curve is too steep.
This is the case of Daniel Martel, who lives in Chemin Sainte-Marguerite, who says he has asked Trois-Rivières municipal councilors to lower the speed limit on the road, it is currently at 70 km / h, and have it increased the police surveillance.
According to him, the road is in administrative blur. The city has already told us that the road does not count. As long as it doesn’t count, I think, no one will act.
For Mr. Martel, Chemin Sainte-Marguerite should be tested to increase safety, especially since it is increasingly being used in the development of the Pointe-du-Lac sector.
The restaurant owners were shocked
The identity of the accident victim has been released. This is 30 -year -old businessman Fabien Mercure.
He was until recently the owner of the restaurant Le petit Beurré in Trois-Rivières. He started a new project, La cantine du port, in downtown.
The chef and owner of Le Poivre Noir, José-Pierre Durand, said that Mr. Mercure worked at his restaurant for more than two years a few years ago. Last night when the team heard the news at the restaurant, we were all shocked. This is a disadvantage for the restaurant sector in Trois-Rivières. Fabien is a very creative, self-sufficient person with a vitality in life. He is a very good chef. I don’t understand what could have happened.
Le Lupine restaurant owner Benoît Laforce agrees. Fabien worked with us until 2020. She is a hardworking employee. It was a difficult shock for the team last night. We found out before we started dinner and we said to ourselves, ” We need to do this for him tonight ”.
The investigation is ongoing
The police investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of the accident.
The occupants of other vehicles involved in the accident were injured, but there was no fear for their lives.
