The parties involved in Wave 2B of pyrrhotite victims reached an out-of-court settlement on Monday. This agreement therefore avoids the trial involving SNC Lavalin in particular that will begin at the beginning of May.
Victims are expected to receive a cash rebate based on the damage sustained in mid -July.
Wave 2B includes 497 buildings constructed between May 2003 and November 2007, damaged and undamaged.
Me Pierre Soucy, a lawyer representing pyrrhotite victims, declared victory. He believes that families can finally move on. Note that some have been waiting since 2012.
Test dates for Waves 2A and 2C have not yet been set. The lawyer believes that an out-of-court settlement can also occur.
