He spoke to Nicolas Duny about the latest report ofInstitute for Research on Public Policy entitled How to modernize employment insurance: towards a simpler, more generous and more responsive program, showing the shortcomings of employment insurance in Canada and solutions for a more appropriate program.

Last December, the Institute for Research on Public Policy brought together a task force of researchers and experts to collaborate with the federal government on the biennial review of Employment Insurance…. The first in 25 years.

The report’s experts and authors suggest relaxing the eligibility rules to allow a greater number of unemployed workers to collect benefits.
