The Regina Police Service is pursuing drivers who park on the streets in a thunderous manner. The crackdown followed complaints from residents of a neighborhood east of the city.
The city’s noise reduction rules prohibit drivers from committing loud unnecessary noise while driving a motor vehicle on a public city street.
In a Twitter message posted on April 28, the Saskatchewan Traffic Unit (Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan), indicated that 16 cases were filed overnight last week in The Greens neighborhood, for noisy vehicles and fast driving.
We will keep these projects as long as there is a noise problem in the areaindicates a message.
Law enforcement operations in the area resulted in a number of tickets, said Sergeant Mark Verbeek of the Regina Police Service Traffic Unit.
” Whoever rides the wheel is responsible for their vehicle. “
About 10 drivers were fined for haste. Two other tickets were issued for unregistered vehicles, Sergeant Verbeek said in another tweet posted Wednesday.
In addition, three statements of guilt were issued to people for alcohol reasons and two others for suspended driver’s licenses.
According to Ward 4 Councilor Lori Bresciani, noise and street racing have a big impact on the neighborhood’s tranquility. Residents have eyes on the street, they see what is happeningmention of Ms. Bresciani.
He said he hopes the latest round of tickets will send a strong message to other drivers passing through the neighborhood.
For their part, police said they will continue to distribute tickets in areas where they receive complaints from residents.
