The road rage incident led to the death of a Calgary woman

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) is investigating a road rage incident that led to the death of a woman shortly before midnight Tuesday.

Witnesses reported that they saw a red 2021 Chevrolet Silverado chase a gray 2021 Volkswagen Jetta on 36th Street, and exchange gunfire as they continued to drive unexpectedly south.says a press release.

Police said the vehicles collided with two other vehicles not involved in the incident. The hunt continued by the occupants of the vehicles involved before fleeing.

A 40-year-old female driver who was not part of that road rage died at the scene, police said, adding that the driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

To be clear, the actions and behaviors of these individuals caused the death of a completely innocent woman.complained the police chief, Scott Boyd, at a press conference.

This kind of reckless behavior has no place [nos] streets.

Individuals involved in this behavior and lifestyle are responsible for their actionsHe added.

The wild bullet hit at least two houses, but according to SPCNo one got hurt.

According to SPCthe man who fled the Jetta had bullet wounds and was taken to hospital in good condition.

The two passengers of the Silverado, a man and a woman, fled in an unknown direction. They have not been found yet.

Scott Boyd said it was too early to know if the incident was linked to street gangs, organized crime or any other organization.

Police are asking anyone with photos or information about the incident to contact them.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to Scott Boyd, this is the 58th shooting to take place on the streets of Calgary this year.

This is a major concernhe said at a press conference, noting that the police department has taken steps and reorganized its resources to address this problem.
