An Ottawa man faces multiple human trafficking cases.
The 42-year-old accused allegedly used former apps and other social media platforms to entice the victims, according to the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).
The testimony of a survivor put the police in the path of the accused.
The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred between the spring of 2016 and April 2022, police said.
More than 20 cases were filed against the accused, including charges related to human trafficking and sexual assault.
The Ottawa Police Human Trafficking Unit believes there may be other victims.
The predatory and historical nature of this ongoing investigation suggests that more crimes were committed during this period.said by OPS in a press release on Wednesday.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Anyone with information about such incidents is requested to call the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Human Trafficking Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5005 or 1-800 -292-1168.
Certainly difficult to present as a survivor, but we urge anyone thinking to move forward to consider that our team against human trafficking has substantial resources to support and allow anyone to break their silence.ensured by OPS by press release.
