Fifty searches and six arrests in Mauricie related to narcotics

A major police operation on Wednesday in Mauricie where police conducted fifty searches and arrests in the cities of Trois-Rivières, Shawinigan and Saint-Boniface.

The operation mobilized police from the Mauricie Regional Mixed Squad (ERM) and Contraband Investigation Service, in collaboration with the Trois-Rivières Police Department.

These operations are primarily aimed at finding evidence in areas and vehicles associated with individuals suspected of drug trafficking, as well as illicit cannabis smuggling. They were partially implemented as part of the ACCES Cannabis programsays a press release from the authorities.

Six individuals were arrested; three were released pending trial at another date, but three more remain incarcerated.

During the searches, police seized more than 130,000 contraband cigarettes, as well as narcotics, such as cocaine, GHB and more than 17,300 methamphetamine tablets.

Officers also seized 395 kilograms of bulk cannabis buds, more than 1,100 cannabis plants, approximately $ 300,000 cash and five firearms.
