Fire at a residence for autistic people in Charlesbourg

A house in Charlesbourg borough inhabited by people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) was damaged by fire on Thursday.

The fire broke out around 10 a.m. in a two-story residence located on rue Lévesque, in the Bourg-Royal sector.

According to our information, the building is home to a dozen people ASD. Five people who were at the scene when the fire started had to be evacuated.

The intensity of the fire damaged the coating of two adjacent properties.

The fire broke out Thursday morning.

About 50 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. They couldn’t help but break the roof and back of the building.

No one got hurt. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
