A teenage girl fell on Thursday afternoon in the Rivière du Nord, in Sainte-Adèle, in the Laurentians region. Several policemen were still at the scene to search for the girl.
Around 12:30 pm, MRC des Pays-d’en-Haut station police officers were informed that a girl had fallen in the Rivière du Nord, more precisely under the bridge on rue Rolland.
According to initial information, a group of four people were under the bridge, on the rocky surface, for unknown reasons. The teenager slipped and fell into the river, said agent Catherine Bernard, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Several police and firefighters were at the scene to search for the teenager whose age is being kept confidential for now.
Police patrol the area by watercraft and others patrol the banks. There is also an SQ helicopter on site.
So far, a search is underway at the place where the girl went missing. It is not known if the current in the river is strong. By the early evening, there were no new developments.
