A burning tractor caused a large column of black smoke late Thursday in Hébertville.
The fire broke out in the middle of a field in the Saint-Léandre row. Emergency services responded to the scene, when the call arrived around 5:25 p.m.
The event took place near a woodland while the risk of forest fire is still considered extreme by the Society for the Protection of Forests against Fire (SOPFEU) and open fire is prohibited.
At this time the risk of burns is particularly high on the side of grass fires. There are two barracks called, 21 and 23, Hébertville and Saint-Bruno. There were about fifteen firefighters who fought the start of the tractor fire and prevented the spread on the farm. It is limited to the tractorexplained in the evening the chief of operations of the Alma fire department, Sébastien Ouellet.
As firefighters fought the blaze, the blaze quickly escalated, forcing the firefighters to retreat.
In oil, gasoline, there’s some flammable, flammable material in these vehicles, it’s wonderfulhe commented.
The other fire was extinguished
Earlier this week, Alma’s firefighters worked to stop a fire that started in a container near a garage that spread into the woods.
On Saturday, a fire that accidentally ignited on the ground in Saint-Gédéon could have serious consequences, but firefighters also prevented the fire from spreading there.
The next day, in Saint-Bruno the fire spread to a supply of wood. It was also there that firefighters prevented the blaze from attacking the forest.
On the Hébertville side, this is the second [tracteur en feu]. You have to be very reactive, because propagation is done very quicklysaid Sébastien Ouellet.
The head of operations reminded that the current burning of permits is prohibited for citizens.
