The body of a man was discovered in the trunk of a vehicle that caught fire Sunday on the eastern end of Montreal.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
Emergency services were notified around 12:25 am that a vehicle was on fire in Pointe aux Prairies Park, on Gouin Boulevard, near Highway 40, in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector.
Only after the fire was extinguished did firefighters make the gruesome discovery.
A lifeless body was found in the suitcase of the vehicle in question […] A security perimeter was built at the park level. Investigators are currently at the scene and have requested a command post on the spot.said agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesman for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
An autopsy should be performed on the corpse found in the vehicle, as so far there is no possible identificationsaid the agent Brabant.
A vehicle inspection will also be conducted to determine the exact cause of the fire.
This is the tenth homicide to have occurred in Montreal this year, confirmation of SPVM
