The Toronto Police Service reports that a man suffered fatal injuries after being hit by a car and “dragged away” along Church Street in Toronto’s gay village.

Police were called to the area around the streets and shortly after midnight on Sunday.
Toronto police spokeswoman Laura Brabant said being taken to the hospital threatened the life of the victim.

The driver of the vehicle involved fled, but Officer Brabant said police quickly found him and will file a case.
Potential cases include failure to stay at the scene of the collision and dangerous driving causing bodily injury, a police spokesman said.
Anyone at the scene of the accident at the time is asked to contact the authorities.
