The Board of Directors of Glorioso has issued an official statement where he sings the mea culpa and makes a self-critical sura after the disaster was consummated by losing the category.

Below we reproduce the full statement of the Board of Directors where they assume the errors that have precipitated the descent of the club from Vitoria.

The statement reads as follows:

The Board of Directors of Deportivo Alavés, in the words of its president Alfonso Fernández de Trocóniz, has assured that “we have made mistakes” that have led the team to go down after enjoying the longest stage of its centenary history in the First Division, with six consecutive campaigns.

“In Alavés there is no room for surrender or excuses and for this reason we must recognize that we have made mistakes,” said the albiazul president. “When the season is over we will do the most in-depth analysis and we will publicly give the pertinent explanations, but now is the time to assume the situation and face it”, he emphasized.

“We were convinced that we could live a year of relative tranquility in the top flight, but it is clear that we have not been successful”, said the manager of the club from Vitoria. In addition, he added that “the disappointment is great, but we have to start a new project in the Second Division and we must do it with the greatest possible enthusiasm, although now it is difficult for us to accept it.”

The president feels the disappointment suffered by a crowd that every day in Mendizorroza “has supported the team with all its strength” and asks for their confidence to ensure that the team returns soon to play another season in the First Division. “Suffering and overcoming adversity is in our DNA. Our centenary history is full of difficult situations that we have always gone through together. I am convinced that this time we will once again overcome the obstacles and place the team in the First Division to try to consolidate it in the highest category”, said the Albiazul president.

“full delivery”

Fernández de Trocóniz has assured that “the penalty for going down has to last us very little, the mistakes made must help us not to fall into them again and the hard work and enthusiasm must begin tomorrow with a new project that returns the team to First. Complaining doesn’t do much good. Only hard work and maximum effort are useful to obtain success again. At Alavés, only total dedication gives us chances of success”.
