Maple Leafs player Mitch Marner victim of armed robbery

Toronto police are looking for three suspects who allegedly stole an SUV Monday night by threatening its owner with knives and guns.

The stolen vehicle is a ranger rover the color is black.

According to some media, the victim was Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner. However, the police did not confirm this information and therefore Radio-Canada was not able to independently verify the news.

The carjacking happened around 7:45 pm Monday, police said, near a movie theater west of the city near the intersection of streets. Queensway at islington.

The owner of the SUV was not hurt, police said.

The suspects fled in a stolen vehicle, police added, who did not give a description of the three wanted men.

Authorities warn that carjackings are on the rise in the Greater Toronto Area. Police recommend drivers be vigilant and call 911 if they think they are being followed, but always follow if the suspect directly threatens them.
