The Independent Investigations Bureau (BEI) is launching an investigation into the circumstances of an intervention involving the Sherbrooke Police Department.
According to a press release from EIB
called police on Tuesday night on rue Françoise-Gaudet-Smet in the eastern sector for a man in crisis.He allegedly threatened people in the neighborhood.
When the police arrived, the individual allegedly launched himself at them.
They allegedly tried to suppress him with cayenne pepper and exercise joint control.
The man fainted.
He was allegedly given Naloxone when paramedics arrived.
He was later taken to the hospital where he is said to be in stable condition.
