It took Talal Amer about five days to find himself in the middle of a new criminal case after his sentence for gun and drug-related crimes on May 5th.

The 29-year-old man was identified Monday by Calgary police as the lead actor in the collision that caused Angela McKenzie’s death on Tuesday, May 10th.

Unfortunately, the 40-year-old victim was at the intersection of 36at Street at 17at Avenue in Calgary, when Talal Amer’s actions allegedly caused his death.

Angela McKenzie’s five children are now doubly orphaned, their father died three months ago.

According to the result of the police investigation, Talal Amer, who was alone in a red Chevrolet Silverado, targeted the occupant of another vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta. He allegedly chased the other vehicle while firing a gun and caused a collision between two other vehicles.

The man identified as Talal Amer’s target and who escaped from him was found with bullet wounds near the scene of the incident.

Talal Amer is the subject of a national arrest warrant issued Monday and charged, among other things, with attempted murder, manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm whose serial number has been erased.

On parole from August 2021, his sentence expired on May 5 and as a result, he is no longer under the supervision of the Parole Board of Canada (PBC). However, he was banned for life from owning or carrying a gun.
