Three carjacking cases happened in less than two hours Wednesday afternoon, according to Toronto police, who believe “even the first two” could be the prank of the same people.
The first car theft occurred in the Alfred Avenue and Longmore Street area of North York just before 4:30 p.m.
The suspects allegedly approached in two vehicles and one of them brandished a gun. They stole a white Lexus IS 250 AMDT 138 and fled.
No injuries were reported.
An hour later, police responded to another carjacking about 20km further east, in the Sheppard Avenue East area and at the Ecopark gate, in Scarborough.
This time, two suspects driving a white car approached a man pointed a gun and took his black Toyota Rav 4.
They left with the SUV. Again, no one was physically injured, police said.
Similar description of suspects
Shortly before 6:20 p.m., a third vehicle was stolen while being shot at the intersection of Sheppard Avenue and Massie Street, somewhere between the first two locations.
No information was released about the suspects, but a Toronto Police Service spokesman said the incidents could be attributed.
We need to investigate, but it appears for the first two at least that there is a similar description of the suspectsexplanation by agent David Hopkinson.
As police try to locate these people, Constable Hopkinson advised motorists to remain vigilant, but comply if they are threatened.
If you find yourself in the position of having to leave your vehicle, do so. Not worth risking your life.
