A drowning would have happened Thursday afternoon near Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gaspé

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating the death of a fisherman, which occurred Thursday afternoon, on Lac à Béliveau. This body of water is located eight kilometers north of Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gaspé.

Shortly after noon, police from the station MRC Rocher-Percé in Chandler went to the site to help the teams respond first.

The latter tried to rescue the two fishermen whose boat capsized.

According to the spokesperson of SQClaude Doiron, the two men were not wearing life jackets.

They were taken to the hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries.

According to initial findings, the individual died by drowning, but the investigation continues to clarify the circumstances of this death. The identity of the victim will be known on Friday.

Another fisherman remains hospitalized and has no fear for his life.
