Saskatoon police found the lifeless body of a man behind an apartment just off Melrose Avenue on Thursday afternoon. Officers were arrested at the scene after several gunshots were reported in the neighborhood around 4:30 p.m.
Saskatoon police also said two men, ages 25 and 35, were injured. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators are looking to identify the two men who fled the area after the incident. They were thin, wearing dark clothes and one of them had a backpack.
The police department is calling on residents with security cameras in the neighborhoods Saskatchewan Crescent East, Victoria Avenue, Main Streetat Idylwyld Drive Freeway. Any suspicious activity recorded should be forwarded to 306-975-8300.
Saskatoon police believe this incident does not pose a risk to public safety.
A man was arrested and released
A resident of the building says officers entered his home and arrested him while he was naked.
Radio-Canada does not disclose this person’s identity out of respect for his or her privacy.
The resident says he was taken to the police station without proper attire. He was detained there for more than four hours.
According to him, the police explained to him that his arrest was due to noises like gunshots that seemed to come from his apartment. He also said that blood stains were found near his residence.
