One was killed and two were seriously injured in an accident in Rouyn-Noranda

A 23-year-old man was killed and two people sustained serious injuries in a traffic accident that occurred Sunday morning on Témiscamingue Boulevard in Rouyn-Noranda.

Emergency services were called to intervene at the scene of the frontal collision, near the intersection with Rang de la Carrière, around 1:30 am Sunday morning.

The road is currently closed to traffic and detours are offered to motorists.

An investigator and a reconstructionist from the Sûreté du Québec will go to the site to determine the causes of the accident.

Alcohol may be involved, according to Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre, SQ spokeswoman.

Following the impact, one of the two vehicles caught fire. The driver of this vehicle, a 22-year-old woman from Rouyn-Noranda, jumped from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital. As for the passenger who accompanied him, he was a 23-year-old man, also from Rouyn-Noranda, and unfortunately, he was dead on the spot.
