Drunk driving: a woman on a scooter caught in Charlevoix

A 32-year-old woman was seriously injured overnight from Saturday to Sunday after being hit by a car in Les Éboulements, in Charlevoix. Alcohol is involved in this case.

The collision occurred around 1:15 am Sunday on Route 362. The 30-year-old motorist was traveling at nearly double the alcohol limit allowed in his blood, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

He was arrested and later released on a promise to appear.

The 32-year-old woman on the scooter was seriously injured, but had no fear for her life, according to Hélène St-Pierre, public relations officer at SQ. He was taken to a hospital center.

Around 9 am this morning, traffic on Route 362 was shifting, because a re-enactor of the Sûreté du Québec was on site to try to determine the causes of the accident.
