The Senneterre Fire Department was called Saturday around 5:30 pm for a nautical rescue operation on the Mégiscane River.
We were sent along with the Val-d’Or fire department, the paramedics and the police, for a nautical rescue because we had to cross a form of water, said the assistant director of the Senneterre fire department, Marc Bélanger.
The incident happened while the three men were on their way to their hunting camp. After crossing for the first time, one of them found himself in the water, separated from his two companions.
When a first individual went to lift a companion to his camp, on his return, he capsized into the river trying to take something from the boat. He picked himself up in the water. He was able to reach the side, but on the other side of the bench. One of his sidekicks heard him shout, but he was on the other side of the bench, he had no accesssaid Marc Bélanger.
The gentleman walked about two hours along the bank to finally come across another hunting camp, which he was brought back to the edge. Her feet were a bit sore as she walked through the woods. He was a little cold while wearing a t-shirt and shorts, but he was very good end by Marc Bélanger.
The intervention lasted 5 hours and the man sustained no serious injuries.
