At around 11 a.m., about twenty firefighters still tried to put out the fire.

Fire Chief Brian Lauzon believes the fire started in the attic of the hotel before spreading to the roof.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is unknown.

The fire climbed to the ceiling. It looks like half of the third floor was destroyed , said Dan Thiessen, a customer eating lunch when the fire alarm sounded. He thinks the fire spread quickly because the building was made of wood.

Radio Canada/CBC has not yet received a comment from the Chief of the Little Shuswap Lake Indian Band or the Skwlax Fire Department.
