Medicine Hat Police Chief Mike Worden has submitted his resignation to the city’s Police Commission after a year and a half on the job.
Commission Chairman Ted Rodych confirmed that Mike Worden has informed the City of his intentions.
In a Facebook statement, Mike Worden said he resigned for personal and family reasons. After much thought, I made the difficult decision to retire as Chief of the Medicine Hat Police Department.he wrote.
It has been a great honor to lead this organization for the past year and a half and I have confidence in the Medicine Hat Police Commission to select an effective leader who will help the service in the future.
The commission said it respected the police chief’s decision and added that the search for a successor would begin shortly.
