Suspicious death in Laval: former UFC fighter Eduardo Larenas charged with murder

The man who claimed to be the target of home burglary with his wife on Tuesday night, in Laval, was charged with murder after discovering the body of one of his alleged attackers at his residence.

The former warrior cfu [arts martiaux mixtes] 42 years old, Eduardo icho Larenas will face charges of unpremeditated murder, while his wife Gladys Rosana Lopez, 50, will be charged with complicity after the fact.

The man and woman called emergency services Tuesday night to report that they had been the target of home theft at their residence on Place du Cormoran, in the Sainte-Rose district, in Laval.

Claiming they bound five attackers to kidnap them for several hours, the couple explained to police that they escaped after Eduardo Larenas removed his chains and neutralized one of the culprits. The couple took refuge in the neighbors where they called the police.

On the spot, police discovered the lifeless body of a young man. Considering that they were dealing with a suspicious death and suspected organized crime involvement in the matter, Laval police officers transferred the investigation to the Sûreté du Québec.

If the version of the facts presented by the victims could lead to the belief in a theft followed by a self-defense case, however, the couple’s account does not deny the Sûreté du Québec investigators ’analysis that in Eduardo Larenas was finally accused Tuesday afternoon of killing the young man and his wife Gladys Rosana Lopez, of conspiracy after the fact.

The couple appeared in court by phone yesterday afternoon before appearing in person today at the Laval courthouse.
