Police are investigating a series of armed thefts of vehicles that occurred Wednesday night in Scarborough in eastern Toronto.
These violations occurred between 11:44 pm and 1:15 am, in less than two hours, police said.
Investigators believe the two thefts and two attempted hijackings were connected.
In three of these cases, the suspect approached the owner of the vehicle in his driveway before he was threatened with a gun.
Defendant was able to leave with the stolen vehicle in one of the cases.
A suspect also stole the vehicle of another victim who had parked his vehicle. In this case, too, the defendant pulled out a gun, according to police.
Police have not released a description of the suspect so far.
Carjackings are on the rise this year in Toronto, police say. The issue made headlines earlier this month when Maple Leafs player Mitch Marner was robbed of his SUV with a gun in a movie theater parking lot.
