Toronto police wounded a man with a rifle walking near schools in Scarborough on Thursday afternoon.
The Toronto Police Service (TPS) was called before 1:00 pm in the area of Maberley Crescent and Oxhorn Road, south of Highway 401. The man was described as approximately 20 years old, wearing a white hat and long coat.
In an update on Twitter around 1:47 pm, law enforcement said they shot the suspect, who is believed to have been wounded.
Four schools were detained in the area where the police intervention took place. These are the William G Davis, Joseph Howe, Charlottetown and Sir Oliver Mowat schools, according to the Toronto English Public School Board (TDSB).
Detention was lifted at at least one of them, the William G Davis school, when there was no longer a threat to the public, according to SPT
