Four new lawsuits have been filed against Yoan Derosby

Yoan Derosby, a 20-year-old from Port-Cartier, faces four new charges. He was first arrested on May 15 in Port-Cartier and charged with possession of ammunition and explosives.

Yoan Derosby appeared Thursday morning via videoconference at the Sept-Îles courthouse.

According to a court document, he is now charged with four new firearms and explosives offenses allegedly committed between 1eh January and May 15, 2022.

The prosecutor for the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP), Patrick Smith-Morin, believes the file is now final and that it is likely that other cases will be filed against him.

Last week, the young man faced a single case, which he asserts, that holding on to his ammunition and explosive substances, while prohibited by an ordinance.

Five counts so now weighs against him.

After an assessment of his mental state, Yoan Derosby was declared eligible to face trial.

After a request from attorney Jean-Luc Desmarais, representing the defendant, the judge mentioned that Yoan Derosby would undergo another psychiatric evaluation at the National Institute of Forensic Psychiatry Philippe-Pinel to determine his criminal responsibility.

While awaiting his release hearing scheduled for June 27, Yoan Derosby remains incarcerated.
