A group of students from South Pointe Elementary School in Winnipeg discovered a corpse at a community clean-up on Friday.
The body was found in a field in front of the school, the school division’s superintendent said Trails BuilderTed Fransen.
The administration then sent a letter to the school community along with the parents to let them know of this frightening discovery.
In this case, the school administration clearly and correctly believes that the entire school community should be informedunderlined Mr. Fransen.
I can only imagine that those closest to the situation were traumatized by it.He added.
The investigation is underway and according to Constable Claude Chancy of the Winnipeg Police Service, the corpse is an adult, but he could not immediately confirm its origin or gender at this time.
He mentioned that an autopsy would be conducted in the next few days to determine the identity and cause of death.
School guidance counselors South Pointeresource teachers and psychologists from the division will be on site from Monday morning to support students disturbed by this discovery, Ms. Fransen.
