Flood surveillance affects the areas of Fort St John, Chetwynd, Moberly Lake, Pine Pass Hudson’s Hope and Dawson Creek in particular.

Rainfall and melting snow cause an increase in the flow and level of nearby waterways.

Environment Canada forecasts 50 millimeters to 80 millimeters of rain for the Peace River region, especially near the Rocky Mountains. The federal agency added that this rainfall combined with soil saturation increases the risk of landslides and flooding.

A high flow advisory is also in effect for Bulkley River.

According to the Center for River Regime Forecasting, the peak of spring freshet is estimated on Sunday.
