Death of a man detained at Dalhousie Regional Correctional Center

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in New Brunswick and the provincial coroner’s service will investigate the death of a person detained at the Dalhousie Regional Correctional Center.

Jason Barnaby-Gloade39, was found unresponsive in a cell on Saturday afternoon.

Jail staff gave him emergency care while awaiting transportation to Campbellton Regional Hospital.

He died at the hospital Saturday night, the New Brunswick Department of Justice and Public Safety announced Sunday.

Lord. Barnaby Gloade is in custody pending a court appearance on June 6.

5 deaths this year in New Brunswick prisons

Since January, five people have died while incarcerated in New Brunswick.

Skyler Sappier28, of Neqotkuk (formerly Tobique), died Jan. 31 after getting COVID-19 at Saint John Regional Correctional Center

Jarrett Lunn24, who was at the Madawaska Regional Correctional Center, died on March 31.

Another man imprisoned in the same place, Wesley Geneau, 40, died Feb. 6.

On April 8, 27-year-old Dany Bernatchez died at the Atlantic Institution, a maximum-security federal prison in Renous.
