Traffic continues on the Shipshaw Bridge

An inspection conducted Tuesday morning allowed for the reopening of the infrastructure, which was closed to traffic due to the high water level of the Shipshaw River.

The bridge was closed on Thursday due to high water levels and flow caused by spills from Hydro Saguenay facilities, which are part of Resolute Forest Products ’power network.

Traffic between the municipality of Saint-Ambroise and the northern sector of Chicoutimi was diverted by the borough of Jonquière.

The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Transport, Andrée-Anne Duchesne, indicated inspected the wire mesh under the structure as well as the columns of the bridge and secured everything.
