Chief Justice Glenn Joyal of Manitoba’s Queen’s Bench Court led a lawsuit filed by the Center on behalf of a group of Manitoba churches challenging COVID-19’s health restrictions.

The detective followed the judge to his private residence and cabin to see if he was following public health policies.

John Carpay and another lawyer from JCCF apologized in court to Judge Joyal.

Mr. Carpay’s actions were unconditionally criticized by the board of directors of JCCF himself, who announced at the same time the departure of his president’s indefinite vacation, in July 2021.

The following month, however, John Carpay resumed his duties.

The Law Society of Manitoba confirmed to Radio-Canada that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
