The Stanstead couple was charged with sexually assaulting the 12-year-old

A Stanstead couple is facing justice for sexually abusing a 12-year-old child and filming it.

Frédérick Brousseau and Véronick Cournoyer were charged with group sexual assault and committing child pornography. They appeared Tuesday at Sherbrooke courthouse before Judge Hélène Fabi of the Court of Quebec.

The alleged victim was not the couple’s child.

The acts were allegedly made in August 2020 at the couple’s home in Stanstead.

Criminal and penal prosecution lawyer Stéphanie Landry explained that Frédérick Brousseau is facing other charges. He was also accused of distributing sexually explicit material and of having intimidated in the same context of events.

Frédérick Brousseau has already been charged with offenses related to obscene acts with minors. Véronick Cournoyer was released under extreme conditions to protect society. There was an objection to the release in the case of Frédérick BrousseauLandry mentions Me.

If convicted of gang sexual assault, both defendants face a minimum sentence of imprisonment of five years. For committing child pornography, there is a penalty of six months imprisonment.

Frédérick Brosseau will return to court this Friday for his release investigation.
