In Toronto, the jury at the trial of singer Jacob Hoggard disagreed with a unanimous verdict on the third day of its deliberations.
Jacob Hoggard, 37, was charged with inappropriate sexual interference with a minor and sexual assault causing harm against both a teenage girl and an adult in the Toronto area in April, September and November 2016.
The jury on Thursday morning asked to see Ontario Superior Court Judge Gillian Roberts again for advice, saying they could not agree on certain charges.
The 12 jurors did not specify the cases in which they reached a unanimous verdict.
The magistrate reminded him that they had all sworn to reach a unanimous verdict and they should redouble their efforts to achieve it, by asking for example to review exhibits and testimonies if necessary.
It is too early at this time to thank you for your service and free you from your responsibilities.he continued.
The judge told them to keep an open mind and to assess the opinion of their jury peers to reach a unanimous verdict on all three charges, but based solely on factual evidence.
He then ordered it back to the deliberation room. There is nothing to do but waithe concludes.
The jury left its deliberations hours after they began on Tuesday to ask about consent.
He also asked if the singer had or acted as an authority figure in his dealings with the two complainants.
The judge replied that an actor could not be considered an authority on anyone.
