Athletic opened the doors of Lezama yesterday to be able to visit the first team building, the Iribar Residence and the renovated main building. The red and white club has invested around 20 million euros in the execution of this project aimed at modernizing the red and white ‘factory’. Functionality prevails in these facilities in which every last detail is taken into account.

The Bilbao club itself was in charge of detailing the works carried out. The building reserved for the first team, of 3,600 square meters and developed on three floors, has spaces for the gym, medical evaluation, recovery, hydrotherapy, training and nutrition, among others. Its inauguration took place in January 2021, shortly after the arrival of the Super Cup trophy in Lezama, after work began in September 2019. This project also included the urbanization of the area adjacent to training ground 1 and a new stand .

Residence and main building

The works of the Jose Angel Iribar residence were from May 2020 to June 2021. This new building has two floors above ground that add up to 1,110 square meters and accommodates 29 double rooms and a basement floor of 600 square meters that houses areas facilities and warehouses.

This building is a new annex next to the main Lezama building, which houses the definitive training, recreation and nutrition areas for the residents, as well as providing the club with new locker room spaces for the main teams of the lower categories, a gym , medical area, restaurant area and Club headquarters in Lezama.

The complex is completed with the so-called main building, a building of 4,200 rehabilitated square meters and 1,300 new ones built below ground level for parking, technical areas and a press room. The work started in January 2021 and concluded in June 2022.

This renovated building has a covered pavilion (the old one without stands, enlarged and with the old shield), medical and water areas, changing rooms for the women’s Athletic and Bilbao Athletic and shared for the rest, an area for the work of the analysts, bar and dining room for private and public use and press room, among other things.
