The pursuit leads to the arrest of a suspect at the La Vérendrye wildlife reserve

Route 117 was the scene of a police chase in the Maniwaki sector on Friday afternoon.

According to information from the Sûreté du Québec, MRC de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau police tried to intercept a possibly stolen vehicle and linked it to a fuel theft, around noon.

After chasing the vehicle northward on Route 117, officers distanced themselves for safety reasons.

The vehicle was eventually located in the Junction 28 area, where the pursuit began in a southerly direction.

At around 1:45 pm, after driving on two carpets with nails, the individual lost control of his vehicle and then left the road at kilometer 343 sector in Maniwaki. He was arrested by the police and taken to the hospital center to receive treatment appropriate to his condition.said Louis-Philippe Bibeau, sergeant in the communications department of the Sûreté du Québec.

According to Mr. Bibeau, the suspect could not have sustained serious injuries.

After being temporarily closed, Route 117 was reopened to traffic in the area.

An investigation is being conducted to clarify the circumstances surrounding the event.
