The family of a student who went missing in Saint-Jean remains hoping to see him again

Police in Saint John, New Brunswick are searching for the missing young man. Chi Thien Tran’s family, commonly known as John, has heard nothing from him since his 20th birthday on May 4th.

Thao Tran immediately felt that something was wrong when his son texted him the simple word goodbyeat 5:30 a.m. that day.

Alarmed at his inability to reach, Thao Tran and his wife Thu Tran contacted the regional police.

Since that day, the family and police have been actively searching for Chi Thien Tran.

Thao and Thu lived in Saint-Jean for six months. They are from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

They came to New Brunswick to accompany their son Chi Thien Tran, who has been there since 2019, as part of the Atlantic International Education Program.

The initial police search focused on northern Saint John, where the Tran family lives. In addition, Chi Thien Tran often visits the park Rockwood and around it.

On May 17, Chi Thien Tran’s backpack was found by a walker west of the city, on the beach of Bayshore.

According to authorities, there are reasons to believe the backpack may have drifted ashore. Searches for this sector were made in the following days, without results.

A month without news

Chi Thien Tran’s parents remain hoping to find their son alive, despite not seeing any sign of life for a month.

Every day, the family digs in the Saint-Jean region to find leads.

The family and local police are now asking Saint-Jean residents to assist them in their search, especially on the coast.

Chi Thien Tran is a 5-foot-2, dark-haired, brown-eyed young man who weighs 114 pounds. He can wear a black jacket, jeans and black Adidas sneakers. Sometimes her hair is ponytailed.
