The driver of a pickup truck involved in an alleged hit-and-run at a march honoring residential school survivors in Mission, BC, has submitted himself to police, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP ).
A statement on Monday said the 77-year-old came out after seeing coverage of the incident online. Police took the van and questioned the man, adding that the driver had not been arrested or charged.
We still need some more details and request more information from the public.Constable Harrison Mohr said in the statement.
Four people, according to police, were run over by the van on Saturday.
We have not received any 911 calls about the van going through the step. However, we believe more witnesses, including more people with cellphone video and camera-witness footage have yet to come out.
The RCMP
specifically aimed to talk to the driver of a semi-truck, possibly blue, that was in the back of the blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck because he believed the driver may have valuable information for this investigation.Police are asking anyone with more information to contact RCMP
