Mohamed Salah played injured last Sunday with Egypt against Guinea, in a qualifying match for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, despite Liverpool’s warning. So said this Monday Ehab Galal, Egypt’s new coach. Egypt won 1-0 and Salah, who did not score, played the 90 minutes.
“Salah was injured but he played despite it,” Galal explained at a press conference on Monday, who replaced Carlos Queiroz at the head of the ‘Pharaohs’ after Egypt’s defeat against Senegal in the playoff for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The Egypt captain (in Barcelona’s orbit for 2023) rejected Liverpool’s request for pre-match tests. “But they will do it now,” his coach assured him.
Egypt plays its next match this Thursday against Ethiopia in Lillongwe, Malawi, as the Ethiopians lack stadiums to host international matches.
Salah, who turns 30 on June 15, said before the Champions League final lost to Real Madrid (1-0) that he would complete the last year of his contract at Liverpool, but “then we’ll see.”
Salah, his team and all the Egyptian fans have experienced two big disappointments this 2022: they lost the African Cup final against Senegal on penalties and also on maximum penalties and against the same rival in the second leg of the playoff to go to the World Cup.
