The Order of Psychologists of Quebec has suspended for 10 months the professor of psychology at the University of Quebec at Outaouais (UQO), Stéphane Bouchard, for speech and behavior with sexual connotations.
Stéphane Bouchard pleaded guilty to two counts against him. His temporary radiation began on April 8, 2022, according to a decision issued by the disciplinary council of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec, on February 28.
The Disciplinary Council of the Order found Stéphane Bouchard guilty for not behaving impeccably with members of a research center of which he is the director by maintaining a work environment conducive to comments, discussions and behavior of a sexual natureand this, between 2011 and 2016, we will read in the decision.
Mr. Bouchard is also guilty of incontinence and of not behaving impeccably with a doctoral student in psychology […] by using profane or sexual speech and conduct of the same nature to himalso between 2011 and 2016.
When dealing with the Law, he recognized the facts. He is not proud and he is ashamed. He makes sure these activities and behaviors have stoppedit is defined.
The parties collectively recommend the imposition of a temporary disbarment period of 10 months and pay a total fine of $ 5,500. The two parties have also reached an agreement that the proposed periods of disbarment be served at once.
It should be noted that some of the elements contained in the decision are subject to a publication ban, specifically with regard to the identity of Mr. Bouchard’s students and colleagues involved in this case.

indicated that Stéphane Bouchard was a professor in the Department of Psychoeducation and Psychology. He also holds the Canada Research Chair in Clinical Cyberpsychology.Reached by Radio-Canada on Wednesday, Mr. Bouchard declined our interview request. He was advised not to comment.
Over the last decade, Stéphane Bouchard has given numerous interviews to the media, including Radio-Canada. He has also received several awards and grants for his research.
The secretariat of the Disciplinary Council of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec declined to comment on the decision in Mr. Bouchard’s case.
