An octogenarian from Victoriaville was killed after a collision on Route 116 in Saint-Christophe-d’Arthabaska, in Center-du-Québec, Thursday afternoon.
The accident occurred near Chicago Rang around 4:30 pm, when the driver of the vehicle stopped on the side of westbound Route 116 wanting to make a U-turn to go eastbound, Sûreté du Québec spokesman Stéphane Tremblay explained.
The vehicle was hit by a heavy truck heading west. Due to this impact, the vehicle collided with another vehicle heading east.
The driver who wanted to turn around was taken to the hospital where he died.
The other two drivers were not hurt, but the truck went into the ditch.
Route 116 is closed in both directions between Pie-IX Boulevard and Kirouac Road.
