Over the past two months, Saskatoon police have arrested eight people in connection with thefts of catalytic converters. Together, these defendants face 43 counts including possession of stolen property and mischief.

A ninth suspect was arrested last month after police raided a private home where 66 catalytic converters were discovered.

Saskatoon police said they also found financial documents proving trafficking in stolen property.

According to the Saskatchewan Insurance Corporation (SGI), catalytic converter thefts are on the rise.

In 2021, 610 catalytic converters were stolen and 410 parts were stolen so far in 2022.
