The 60-year-old, who was fighting for his life after veering off with his vehicle early Saturday morning, in Laval, was pronounced dead at his injuries.
It was a 911 call after 4:30 am that notified emergency services of the road trip that had just happened on Highway 440 East, at the top of the Saint-François overpass.
According to initial information, the driver will lose control of his vehicle following the illness. He was about to end his journey on the low wall of the central reservationsaid Sergeant Catherine Bernard, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The man, who was alone in his vehicle, was taken to hospital, where his condition is considered critical.
A collision investigation officer arrived at the scene to find out the causes and circumstances surrounding this event.said Sergeant Bernard.
This section of Highway 440 East was closed to traffic until about 7:30 a.m. to allow police to do their job.
The SQ investigation is ongoing.
