A man was killed in a collision with Rimouski

A 27-year-old man died Saturday night in a collision between his vehicle and a heavy truck. The accident occurred around 7:30 pm on Highway 20, in Rimouski, indicating the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesman for SQ, specifies that the victim’s vehicle was heading in a westerly direction before veering off and going to the other lane. He collided with a heavy truck traveling east.

The collision occurred at kilometer 610, in the Sainte-Blandine sector.

The truck driver was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the added SQ. The causes of the accident are still being determined.

Highway 20 was closed in both directions for several hours overnight from Saturday to Sunday, to allow police to investigate the circumstances of this accident.
