The BC River Forecasting Center has issued flood surveillance for the North Thompson River and its tributaries near Barriere and Clearwater, as many other rivers in the province are experiencing high flow.
Flood precautions are also in effect for waterways flowing west into the Cariboo Mountain Range.
Flood surveillance is launched when a waterway threatens to burst its shores.
According to the center, rain and melting snow in the region led to continued rising levels of rivers flowing into the Cariboo chain last week.
Waterways under close surveillance
The Center for River Forecasting also maintains its high flow advisory for the Fraser River from Quesnel to the Strait of Georgia, through the Big Bar, Boston Bar and Fraser Valley region.
Other waterways have similar tips in the Kootenay region, including around Fernie, Gardner, Fort Steele and Nelson.
The advisory in effect for Liard River was also maintained, as issued for Swift River.
Advising on high flow means that the water flow level is rising or is expected to rise, but there is no doubt that it will be stuck in its bed by this time.
The center asks citizens to stay away from waterways, because of their flow and because banks can become unstable.
