The Canada Post is releasing new stamps this week on National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st.
A stamp dedicated to Saskatchewan leader Marie-Anne Day Walker-Pelletier will be displayed at Fort Qu’Appelle.
Chief Marie-Anne Day Walker-Pelletier spent nearly 40 years as leader of the Okanese First Nation in Saskatchewan.
This spring, he was part of the Indigenous delegation that met with Pope Francis at the Vatican to discuss the role of the Catholic Church in the residential school system for Indigenous people, which he has survived.
To highlight these unveiling and better understand this Aboriginal leader’s contribution to Canada’s cultural heritage, Rose Nantel spoke with Philippe Legault, director of media relations for the Canada Post.
